I wish there was one around $50 that wasn't junk, was lightweight, not too bulky, and was ready to go.
Brugger & Thomet make the lightest I have found (even lighter than the Atlas)... It's hard to find much info on, but what is out there shows good reviews... I almost got one before deciding on Atlas.

I think it's about $100 (more than youre looking for, but not a bad price for a good bipod): http://www.bt-ag.ch/en/manufacturing...es.php?pid=715

the pod-loc is a solid addition, and so is the speedy knob. the OEM knob on harris bipods can be difficult to torque down enough that it won't work loose; the replacement knob is a little grippier, which makes the task substantially easier. brownells carries it here. yes, i'm compelled to accessorize everything.

This isn't necessarily true, right off the harris site. "Harris bipods are quick detachable and clamp to the quick detachable sling swivel stud of any rifle, we offer adapters for those rifles that do not have a factory installed Q.D. studs."

Yep. EXACTLY what he said. You'll need a rail mount.

Also, if you want a cheaper alternative to the Podlock check here

          They have shorter levers too.

I picked up a GG&G heavy duty bipod off the marketplace here on CGN. Going to be using it for a AR308, but it will also be more than enough for my AR15.

I recently bought a cheap *** UTG bipod off Amazon for like $25. Damn thing keeps coming loose when I fire off the 5.56 rounds so I can only use it on my .22lr guns.

Get a good solid bipod that will work for everything, you will not regret it.

Since the OP stated he had an AR it would be safe to assume he wants to use the Harris on a railed forend. Therefore he will need a rail mount or need to add a swivel stud somewhere in his forend. There are plenty of options.

It's light-weight (one of lightest made), excellent quality, and super versatile (pan, tilt, cant, qd)...

Westernsport (forum vendor) has a bunch in stock (sometimes they are hard to find)... here's a link to current thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=525374
How would you know if the Atlas is the latest revision? Botach has them and they are here in CA, so I would get it quickly..However, their site only has BT10-LW17 with no mention of V8...They have v7's under the same product code (other sites)...

I'll be using the bipod stud that attaches to the YHM customizable forearm. Cost a whole dollar!

Ordering my barrel tomorrow and my bipod in about 2 weeks. Once those arrive I will have all my parts and can finally build my first AR. I am getting very excited and can not wait!
