Sterling AR-180 pre-ban legal in CA? Need a BB?

I have a friend that wants to buy a Sterling AR-180 and he did not think it needed a bullet button because it was a pre-ban rifle. I was under the impression that if it was a pre-ban "Assault Rifle" it had to be registered as a RAW. If that is the case, then the rifle can not be sold or transferred?

    Thanks in advance!!!

If it is registered then no, it cannot be transfered in CA.

What if it's not registered? (I have no idea if it is or not)

No such thing as a pre ban gun in CA. Either it is a RAW or it isn't. The pre ban thing is for states like NY that tried to mirror the federal ban.

I have to admit it's almost fun on a nostalgic level to go through this list and see obsolete firearms that are banned in this state. The majority of the guns banned in 1989 are now little more than collectors items and curiousities... especially compared to some of the more ambitious AR-15 and AK-47 bullet button builds going on these days loaded with goodies and electronics.
