Assuming you have a factory Springfield brake, why not stick with the one you have? The SEI is a good brake, but expensive and do your really think it will make you a better shot or appreciably improve your accuracy?
Unless you are going after tacticool points or can't stand the look at that corn cob pipe on the end of your rifle barrel, I'd save the money. This is coming from someone who owns the SEI for the above reasons.
If you can score one, you might consider one of those ChiCom fake flash suppressors. They maintain the longer elegance of the M14 profile and don't make the unGodly racket that a brake does.
Of course moving to a state that doesn't have asinine gun laws where you could run the rifles original flash hider is the best option, but you are mostly likely stuck here like the rest of ussigpicComment

What Suvorov said. I have rifles with the SEI USCG and the SA brakes. If either needed replacing it'd be a dummy of the original. Go here and scroll about 3/4s down the page. There's a picture of a dummy alongside the originals.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles." -Colonel Jeff CooperComment

The price list says a NM reamed FS costs $185. Having done business with Ted in the past my best guess is the dummy would be in the same price range. But, yes, calling him is how to find out for sure. My guess aren't always reliable..."The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own.
