    Mitchell's making their own K98

I just got my issue of American Rifleman and they had an interesting article.

Apparently Mitchell's and a Serbian manufacturer have gotten together to make a clone of the K98.

    Anyone else see this?

I would post a link, but Rifleman has not put the article on their website.

In what way? Shipping stuff other than advertised? Late delivery? Bait and switch? Just curious - I've never dealt with Mitchell's Mausers before.

I saw the article in American Rifleman - seems pretty cool, but I think they wanted around $700 for the newly-manufactured ones.

False Advertising. They sell yugo M-48's that they claim were built during the war on german machinery, and their actual German "all matching numbers" K-98s are refinished "by them" so that they have all matching numbers. Con artists scaming the gun community.

Any doubt Google "mitchells mausers fake"

Us C&R guys have been talking about this for years. Modern rifle guys usually get one thinking they got the deal from hell, come over to a C&R forum saying "I just bought XXX mauser from mitchells for XXX dollars, how did I do". Only to be told and shown they overpaid and the "certificate of authenticity" that Mitchells includes would make good toilet paper

I don't know. These were newly made and they have new serial numbers due to that. They also have a stock stamped with the NRA logo.

Real or not I can't tell.

I've been happy with the only purchase I ever made from them. IT was 300 rounds of 50BMG with their headstamp. I bought it in '04 and still use the brass for match shooting.

I've still got some of that 50 in the plastic. $2.02 shipped and insured iirc.

Should have picked up a wee bit more, sigh.
