I'm thinking of building an AR. How much would it costs me to build a basic one? I'm thinking about the off list lower, upper, collapsible stock, and bullet button so that I can have detachable mags. Anything else I need?

this question gets asked alot, search is your friend.
but i would say anywhere from $650-infinity depends on if you are ok with used uppers, stocks and such.Looking for RPR or Precision Rifle Accessories? Check out Anarchy Outdoors. http://www.anarchyoutdoors.com?afmc=1w -
if you don't mind buying used, there are frequently completed ar's on the FS forums here... but yeah: for new figure $6-700 for the low end on upwards of "too much if you need to ask"... good luck... i'd suggest mixing and matching, buying parts from the members here and on arfcom... good luck.CRPA Lifetime MemberComment

oh and the bullet button will still only allow the use of 10 rnd mags... you also forgot about the lower parts kit:
1. oll- $125-300+
2. lpk- $55-70
3. stock- $50-300
4. upper- $450-??
i would suggest not skimping on the upper. spend the extra $50-100 to buy a RRA, Stag (some problems recently), CMMG, etc. over model 1, etc... or buy used.
the stock, buy used, to save some money. good luck!CRPA Lifetime MemberComment

like jandmtv said 650 is probably the lowest amount youll need to spend. keep a look out in the market place section of the forum and you may be able to build a decent rifle for 650. Good luckLIBERTAS

I have no idea what I need to do or how to build an AR. Hopefully I can find someone to help me.
I just visited the Stag Arms website. Am I correct in thinking that I can build a complete rifle if I buy the following items? 1) Lower receiver - $120, 2) lower parts kit - $66, 3) complete Model 1H upper - $545, 4) Carbine stock assembly - $70. Total price $801 not including tax, shipping, and fees or course. Am I missing anything here?
How much does a bullet button cost? Where can I pick one up?Comment

bullet buttons are cheap, and i would suggest going through one of supporting vendors here on calguns. also, if you're in socal, you should try visiting metroshot for your lowers. they're frequently having sales on lowers and would also be able to help with your uppers and such. shop around for the best prices (not on manufacturers websites).CRPA Lifetime MemberComment

Where are you from? If I can get away from the wife and kid, I may be able to swing by to help you out. We can get that put together quick, fast, and in a hurry.sigpicComment
