    What's It Worth?

Hey guys the name is Steve and I'm from Gilroy just below San Jose. I just got out of the Army (did 3 years active as an infantryman, spent a year in northern Afghanistan and was stationed in upstate NY at Fort Drum) and moved back home to Cali. I hate for my first post on this awesome site to be about the price of a gun but I may be selling it and am interested in what it will bring. Anyway, I'll get right to it.

It's a Remington 700 BDL .30-06. It has a Bushnell 3x-9x scope and both are in very good condition. I'm not sure if I want to sell it but knowing what it's worth will factor in. I've tried looking on GunBroker and other sites but nothing really answered my questions. I don't have a gun store in my city and you know how they are over the phone. Thanks to anyone who answers, I appreciate it.

I'd say in the $500-$600 range.

Top of the mark is probably $550-$600 in pristine condition. It will go down from there based on condition and use. Its a classic hunting gun and shoots great, should be an easy sale if you price it right.

This is my opinion only. I recommend keeping it and upgrading the scope. (Leupold, Nikon, new Redfield, Burris FF) If you're patient; it'll get sold but getting $500-600 on an older "Remington" in today's "economy" may take some time. Either way, good luck with the rifle, it's a nice piece that is suitable for all big game hunting.

I hate to say it but the majority of this state is not hunting oriented and hunting rifles don't bring what they will back east or in the northwest. A nice BDL with a good scope is a $450 rifle on Calguns and you are going to probably wait awhile before someone buys it. Maybe if you paint it black, put a pistolgrip on it and call it tactical you can get another $150.

Nice rifle, I owned a left hand action version of the same rifle some years ago. A real nice shooter.

If it's an older Remington, it should have a nice trigger. That scope is good enough for a sporter. I bought an older BDL in. 308 from my father-in-law with a Japanese Tasco for $400.

Thanks for the quick responses guys! I now have a general idea and that's exactly what I was hoping for. I think I'll hold onto it for the moment unless the right deal can be made. Thanks again.
