Iron sights with magnified optic for 3 gun/recreational shooting recommendation.

I have a set of Troy sights but plan on getting rid of them when i add my 1-4x optic on it. Is this wise? I just dont see myself needing them unless an act of god happens with my optic for some reason which ive never had a catastrophic failure or accident happen with any of my equipment (knock on wood).

Should I ditch them for some extra cash to fund a trigger group for the AR or just keep them?

    To each their own.

I am set up with my 1-4, but I still have yet to get back-up sights. I have been meaning to, and will eventually. I would say, that since you already have them, leave them in place. Yeah, you may never NEED them, but at my at the last 3-gun match, my buddy had his eotech fall off, and instead of giving up, he flipped up his back-up sights and continued through the stage.

You're right. In 3-gun, you generally don't need BUIS since this isn't life-n-death. I only run BUIS on my class gun and even that has a TR24G on it. So, something serious like the sun burning out would have to happen.

how well does your optic do at close range? have you tried transitioning from far to close? keep em just in case, once you find out you wont need em then thats when you sell it.

I havent purchased my optic yet. I am thinking of the Nikon M223 1-4 scope though. then later adding a red dot like a bushnell or something for CQ

Note that this counts as 2 optics so you'll compete in Open Division.
