After the new year I am going to start a service rifle collection. I have my M14 to which I will be adding a second unaltered one. I also plan on getting a Garand and a M1 Carbine. What else should I include in my collection?

If you are looking for service rifles used by U.S.GI's then look for Springfield 1903's or 1917's.
If you want some international stuff then some good ones are the swiss k31, german mauser, russian mosin nagant's, enfield number 4 mark 1 which are all somewhat easy to get.Comment

Springfield 1903 and/or 03A3
AR15 in service configuration
Don't know if you want to include only US service rifles, but it might be nice to include:
K98 Mauser
Arisaka T99
Mosin Nagant
Lee Enfield
Beyond that the list can quickly become very long.Useless laws weaken the necessary laws.

NaDakSpud also sell retro AR15 / M16 style lowers / uppers if you are interested in building a Vietnam War-era M16 style rifle:

I need to get a 1903.
Is CMP still a good source of these?Randall Rausch

Unfortunately, the CMP has sold out without any source in sight.
But there are deals to be had in the private market.
One of my friends just sold his 1903A3 recently for only $600 to another one of our club's members. It had a nearly brand new barrel. I know because I sold it to him. It was a 2-groove barrel, new in arsenal wrap that I had in my parts closet/bin that I wasn't using so I sold it to him for his rifle. He got a Dupage/Boyd's stock that he refinished in a glossy, yet classy look, and it had a Timney trigger with crisp break.
The next 03 that I hear about for sale by someone I know, I'll ask him/her to post it here.

What type of "unaltered" m14 will you be adding? Poly? Just curious as I'm interested in one to and could use some suggestions.Comment

Probably because it would eat to much of my budget to get a USGI parts rifle built. A poly or if I can find another fed would be nice. At least the fed is a us reciever. I say unaltered because I pretty much tricked out my Fed and can't afford the M1A I would like. Ammo Bros has a few really nice M1 Carbines I keep looking at.Comment
