In the year 2000 some east coast SEALs began searching for a more compact M14 for arctic warfare.

For evaluation purposes the folks at CRANE NSWC and others custom built an assortment of M14 stocks
including one GI synthetic with the telescopic butt stock SAGE makes for the 870 shotgun attached.

After field evaluations the SEALs reported they liked the SAGE 870 mod the best.

With a new replacement stock machined from a solid billet of aluminum...

What does the "F" stamped on the front sight mean? What is its importance and why does everyone mention it when selling one.

F stamped front sight is the proper height for use on a flat top AR receiver.

yup, Flat top. An A2 upper within F marked FSB will not zero as per mil-spec. It will zero, it will just not jive with the regs.

And thats a "F" on the LEFT side. The F on the right side is a forge code and can be found on both A2 and A3 FSBs. Normally it will have a circle around it if its the F forged code.
