    250 Yard M1 Carbine shooting video

    I am already a huge M1 Carbine fan, since I carried one as a LEO trunk weapon for much of my career, but this impressed even me. I've killed deer at 100 yards with one, so I know 110 JSP makes a nasty hole!

    He shoots 250 yards with Inland M1 Carbine, iron sights: Steel plate silhouette, milk jugs with water, and 12" steel plates! Same ME at 250 yards as a9mm FMJ at the muzzle, too. I never thought much past the 100 yard effectiveness.

    Very well done video. I enjoyed it and not having shot an M1 I really did not know its potential.

          My dad has an M1 Carbine and that thing is a blast, smacking a gong at 150 was easy but we didn't run it out to 250, next time I take it out I'm going to give that a shot.
          A gun, like any other source of power, is a force for either good or evil, being neither in itself, but dependent upon those who possess it.

            Doesn't he know that Chinese army cotton quilted uniforms were impervious to .30 bullets during the Korean war? He should've tested that and watched the bullets bounce off. (Sarcasm)

              Actually, awhile back "Box of Truth" duplicated the myth of Chinese uniforms stopping M1 Carbine rounds and debunked it. A number of years ago, I saw som analysis that showed that M2 carbines got a bad rap from untrained/uncontrolled full auto fire and trying to engage Chinese at way too far (300+ yards). The simple truth was they were missing their targets. same happened in Vietnam with "spray and pray."

                Here's a Weaponology on French Foreign Legion weapons on the M1 carbine (starting at 5:12). What the carbine does to the clay block by the commentator amazes even him! That was done with a 110 FMJ, which actually yaws and tumbles VERY well according to Fackler's tests.

                  Guns and Ammo TV has a great short on the M1 Carbine:

                  Larry Vickers, military weapons guru, also likes the M1 carbine and has a short;

                  8 layers of frozen soaked denim in front of a 6x6 piece of wood, then through a water jug.

                        I am not saying an M1 Carbine is the "BEST" choice. Besides my Inland M1 Carbine, I have a restored Saiga AK and an AR platform. I am just saying it is often underrated and misunderstood. Those who say it is a pistol caliber are full of BS. At 200 yards, 110 grns at 1970 FPS MV beats a 9mm at the muzzle! There are many hundreds of thousands of dead enemy combatants from WW2, Korea, and even into Vietnam that fell victim to this "inferior" weapon. It is a very viable choice as a sub 150 yard PDW, that will do in a pinch at 200-250 in the right hands.

                          Wow, that was nice. I'm sure it has to do with the shooter as well but man I have a Universal M1 carbine but now I may want to get one of those surplus ones...
                          Thanks for sharing the vid!
