    About the PS90

I'm just curious... i saw a lot of ads in here on Calguns about this FNH PS90 and they're about the same price which is about $1700...

    why is that so pricey?

i was looking for it online... and a brand new one is about $1365... (before tax but even that... with tax doesn't go up to $1700)

So... is there something I'm missing? different series? Something that the new ones don't have?

    C.

Pinned barrel extension may be one reason

Pinned?! I thought these PS90's came with a 16 barrel? If it's for CA over all length compliance it doesn't have to pinned. It just needs an extension that will get it to 30" OAL and a smart owner that won't take it off while in CA.

find one online and have the seller ship just the receiver to your FFL.

You can figure out how you want to make it CA legal on your own.

Or you can pay the $1700 and have all of that taken cared of and ready for the range as soon as you pick up.

If you're old enough(over 21), you can have the PS90 split into two. The serialized version goes to the FFL, the half without the serial number goes to you directly. It is legal, you just gotta find an ffl that is willing to accept it.

Just make sure not to put it together until it is legally configured.

Barrel extension is NOT pinned.. it's held by a set screw..

Two things add to the cost of a PS90 in CA.. the "fake can" extension to bring the PS90 to the STUPID CA 30" law (or you could do a stock extension and screw the LOP) and the mag lock which takes a lot of labor to install.

Any more would just be scacity in CA and stuff like that.

Make sure you are comparing like models and not a tri-rail to a standard, etc.

If you look at Riflegear the standared is $1479 while the CA version of the same is $1629.. this is due to what I typed above.

                            Needed barrel extension:

                            needed mag lock:

Plus you would need a 10-rnd mag.. So it takes nearly $190 in parts to make your PS90 CA legal.

Not so much.. $1365 plus $190 to get CA legal = $1555.. then shipping to an FFL.. $30? So now you're at $1585.. then the FFL is going to charge a transfer fee of some sort.. the LOWEST I've see is $45 (although it's gone up due to CA's new laws).. so now you're sitting at $1630.. and Riflegear's price is $1629.. lol

So you see.. CA shops aren't screwing anyone.. and now with the new CA law you don't even get to save on sales tax..

You can send a thank you letter to Sacramento
