    chrome chip?

So I'm cleaning the barrel on my Chrome lined 1/7 5.56 , and I see a definite imperfection...is the Chrome chipped? What else could this be?

Where exactly is the imperfection located? Towards the top, bottom, left, right...more details are needed...(brand, mid length, carbine, etc)

are you sure its not the gas port where pressure is tapped off to make the action work?

Sounds very likely to be the gas port. Has it ever been fired?

If it helps..what I'm seeing isn't exactly in the 12oclock position like I would imagine the gas port being, however I don't see a gas port either....

The only thing that will help will be photos of what you see.....

Of little consequence if she shoots.

Sounds like the gas port. Probably difficult to photograph but give it a try.

Looks like you guys were right! Just called FN, they said it was the gas port! It looked a little rough, but the guy said the ports aren't perfect...I love this forum, thanks Cal Gunners!
