    Calling all .308 TRG owners

I see a lot of "I have a TRG" type threads, but none that deal with whence their rifles came.

    1) Which do you have (22 or 42)?

    2) Where'd you buy it/would you recommend buying one from?

    3) Did you go with the 20 or 26 inch barrel?

    4) What scope did you get? Other accessories (including rings)?

    5) Any regrets or imperatives for someone looking for a TRG to take note of?

S.F. Bay Area advice especially welcome, if it really makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance!

I don't own one myself but my close friend does.

      1) TRG-22 in .308

      2) He ordered it through a local gun store called Gun Gallery.

      3) He went with the 26" barrel.

      4) He got the Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 mm mounted with Badger Ordnance base and rings. MOA turrets and reticle.

      5) No regrets whatsoever. He absolutely loves that rifle, it's his pride and joy lol. Damn thing is a tack driver. It's easily the most accurate rifle I've ever shot.

        My thoughts

        1. 22 in green.

        2. Lowest price new on GunsAmerica. Dealer handled the transfer in SoCal.

        3. 26 inch barrel. 20 inch wasn't available back then.

        4. Leupold. It matches the scope on my other rifle, a Browning A-Bolt Boss. But I updated it to include reticle illumination. Other accessories included: (1) spare mag; (2) muzzle brake (just because); and (3) tripod.

        5. No regrets. Shoots better than I can.

Now we're talking! Thanks for those responses. I just missed a chance to pick one up locally in the for sale section at a decent price so my TRG passions are stirred up again. Some other local guy keeps simply posting ads with the three letters - "TRG" - and nothing more - how much of a tease is that?

I'm considering a folding stock but the Sako factory one is outrageous. The KRG folder looks pretty nice - and way less expensive.

I was hoping X-NewYawker might weigh in here as well - JAE + R700 love notwithstanding.

I owned one (TRG-22) with 26" barrel. I had a Leupold MK-4 scope on it. Went with a Near scope base and brake. And added a 10mm spacer for the check piece. It shot well, but not as well as my 24" (no longer imported to the USA) Tikka Tactical in .308. Go figure.
Trigger on the TRG is one of the best factory triggers I have used. It is a two stage and lots of adjustments to it.
The stock was VERY comfortable for me. One of my favorites.

I bought mine from Bolsa Gunsmithing in So. Calif. and had it shipped to a local FFL.

You should be very happy with one. Here is a pic of my old one.

            Take care,Stan
