Best among the off the shelf entry level ARs

I'm sure there has been written about exhaustively in the past, but I couldn't locate the relevant thread, but...

I am a first time AR shooter and buyer and am looking at the S&W 15 Sport, the Del-Ton DT Sport and DPMS Oracle ARs (all at Turners); basically the entry level off the shelf ARs in the $700 price range.

Either these brands, or any, your suggestions, directions or recommendations would be appreciated.

all 3 are good rifles, I personally chose the oracle over the s&w and delton because it came with the railed gas block instead of the a2 front sight... i have shot all 3 and they all run good you will not be disappointed

Have you considered a Stag AR? Mine is great and reliable, and didn't cost me an arm and a leg and a kidney.

Otherwise, I would go with the S&W MP-15 from above.

S&W M&P-15 hands down..and its NOT entry level, its a high quality rifle. The Sport is missing some "features" some say are a must have. Thats it.

Other than that, S&W M&Ps are king of the low priced AR15s. Its a dam Smith & Wesson for God sake...

My advice, stay away from "entry" level (entry level being thought of as a price point in this context). With few exceptions (smith & wesson being one of those exceptions) there is a reason a rifle is so "cheap". And while you and I may not need the same level of reliability someone in a war would, you also don't want out of spec parts, weak parts, poor QA etc. to come back and bite you so you can't enjoy your rifle. When I say out of spec, I am not even going to the "mil spec" argument, I mean plain manufactured incorrectly so it doesn't even work properly or has a defect that will cause problems down the road.

What I would do is, if the S&W isn't in a config you want, don't impulse buy, save a couple hundred more and buy with confidence from a company that has a good reputation for quality, customer service and ensure you have the basic features you think you will want.

To me, the features I want in my rifle, good QA, solid manufacturing, good customer service for that occasions slip up by manufacturing, good backup iron sights, a way to mount a flashlight and a good optic. that's a "true entry level" rifle in my opinion. beyond that....put your money into ammo

If you're not interested in building one(and that's not necessarily cheaper to do), get the smith & wesson at that price point.

                              Yes buy two!

My bad did not see the $700 price. I still would recommend stepping up to DD.
