I have a gas block in front and was wondering if it would be possible to replace it with a fixed/pinned front sight? if so, how involved/difficult is this to do? thanks!

Its not something the home builder can do without tools, training and experience. Sure you could find a tutorial on youtube, but for $50 a gunsmith will do it.
It all depends on the type of barrel too. The A2 FSB may not be 100% straight using the same holes as the gas block, the gas block holes may not be the same position as the FSB, The muzzle device might be pinned and welded on, the barrel diameter maybe non-standard... If you don't know how to address each of these possible problems do not attempt to do this.
Its easier to just sell the barrel assembly you have now and buy what you want. Removing and replacing a barrel takes less skill and can be done after watching a few youtubes on it. All depends on your set up now too.Comment

To do this correctly like Dieselpower said it takes equipment and skill. To get it straight you need a good jig and not that orange pin removal jig but one that holds the barrel end cap FSB and locks it all down tight. With out that you will not get it straight with out extreme luck.
Also you drill the holes and ream the holes but you don't go all the way with the reamer so its a skill set thing.Comment

It all depends. What type of barrel (16", 20", 14.5+flash hider, HBAR, Lightweight...blah blah blah) Who made it or who did you get the upper from? What type of handguards are on it? Show us a picture. We can give you better advice if we knew what we were talking about.Comment

I can do this for you. An optical collimator is used to set your front sight windage to within 1 MOA of your mechanical zero in the rear, then drill/ream/pin the front sight base on. The labor cost is $85.

Why not look at the bolt on options?
As suggested before, there are many attachments that are designed to work with what you already have there. Some even look almost exactly like a standard front sight.
Google "gas block height front sight", click "shopping", and at least see if there is anything that you like. The advantage of keeping the block that you already have, in addition to the it won't cost a dime thing, is that you can change to a nice flip-up high dollar sight later if you want.
Nice rifle, by the way. I think you will find that ARs are like potato chips, betcha can't have just one..."don't be that guy"...
