But any TA31's should be perfectLast edited by Secret; 01-04-2012, 10:46 PM.Originally posted by HammertimeWhat do you expect from a culture that readily beats and tortures women?Originally posted by Nose Nuggetsefficiency in the kitchen. -

The BDC for the TA31 is for 5.56.
It won't work on a .308 due to calibration.
I mean it could, don't expect it to be in-sync with BDC.Comment

I run a TA31ECOS on my SCAR17s. It has been a really good acog for me and has been extremely accurate.Comment

Don't worry about the BDC, I've never had an ACOG that was correctly calibrated for 5.56 and had to learn holds shooting it out to 600m. Get whatever reticle you like the best, like others said, I think the horseshoe is the most intuitive. I'd also consider the TA11 model because it has a lot greater eye relief - SCAR H has a bit more recoil than an AR and can scope bite you if your up in it like you got to be for a TA31 ACOG.
If you want to be real legit though, look out for an Elcan Specter DR."Soldier, you need to turn your ACOG off before the batteries die." - PMI Instructor, subject matter expertComment

I was going between the TA11 (3.5x), TA31 (4x) & TA33 (3x) and ended up with the TA33. It's pros are it is small and lightweight (my main concern) and has a decent eye relief. Con is that it has a very small FOV. The TA11 has great eye relief, but is the biggest/heaviest of the 3. The TA31 has the greatest FOV and magnification, but eye relief is pretty short.
I have the green horseshoe reticle, and while I personally like the green over red, being a mostly bench shooter, should have gone with the chevron for better precision as the center dot of the horseshoe covers up a good portion of the target (I forgot what MOA the dot is). However, the horseshoe works great for quick reactive shooting.
For the BDC, each ACOG is calibrated for a specific barrel length and bullet weight, so like doc said, there is a good chance that it will not be spot on. I'll see if I can find the chart that says what each one is calibrated for.
I guess you would have to determine what features are most important to you and then make a decision.Comment

I have a TA31ECOS but i keep that on my 556 AR.
I just bought a SCAR 17 and wanted to go with something that's going to get me up close to the target, i chose the new Burris Eliminator Laser scope because it does so much calculation for longer distant shooting. I figured it would be more applicable for the 308.
Looks like a stretched ACOG 4 to 12x magnification and a great reticle ill post a picture or two shortly.
