    6mm PPC Build help please

Hey guys, I just recently inherited a bunch of extra ammo reloading stuff and I have about 2k rounds of 6mm PPC (various builds) and a few sets of dies that already fit my RCBS press along with a bunch of new brass.

The only thing is, I have no rifle to go along with it. So I am looking to build a 6PPC rifle but I have found that after about two hrs on google and combing through random forums, that there is not a build list for a rifle that can chamber it. Seems to me that plenty of competition shooters use it as well as varmint hunters alike but no one shares their builds (with reason im assuming).
So I want to build one but I have not found very much helpful information at all.

So far, my understanding is that: a Remington 700 22-250 standard bolt action rifle can chamber it, a barrel reamed for PPC and a different style precision stock (so i wont be the poor guy shooting custom ammo). So, 22-250 bolt and action, bull barrel for custom 6mm PPC, stock. am I missing anything? way off?

A buld list or a list of just the required parts in order to fire the ammunition would be great.

.22-250 and 6mm PPC have different rim diameters. The 6mm PPC was formed from .220 Russian which is based on the 7.62x39 case. When it comes to the action, you need one that is long enough to handle the round you want. In this case, the 6mm PPC is a short action round. Buy a short action. Then you need a bolt with the correct bolt face. Get a 6mm barrel and have a gunsmith chamber it with the correct reamer for 6mm PPC. He will thread it for your action and assemble it. I'm sure they can even bed it for you.

I think you posted a thread about inheriting a .22 PPC rifle. If that's the case, you can have a gunsmith chamber a thread a barrel for that action. It already has the correct bolt face for the 6mm PPC. It would be relatively simple. Unless you want both the .22 PPC and a 6mm PPC.

I did and thanks for the help with that also. To save an further explanation, its actually a rifle that a friend wants to build and I just happen to have all the equipment.

The 6mm PPC is the darling chambering of the short range benchrest crowd.

The build list for the rifles are pretty simple:

-Complete Action with bolt that has the proper rim diameter
          -Barrel
          -Stock
          -Gunsmith work
          -Sighting system

And, do not forget you will need a lot of time for reloading because 6mm PPC is formed from 220 Russian. However, the round is a pleasure to shoot and regarded by most in the know as the most inherantly accurate/precise cartridge in existance.

            Sounds good, I have a 22ppc myself (that I didn't build).

I also have a 22-250 Ackley Improved that I may be having problems with. I was fire forming brass and found that it was quite inaccurate, even at 100m. I just loaded about 40 rounds of brass for it so hopefully that fixes the accuracy problem. with the right bullet weight for the 1-14 twist. I'm using a 55gr BT from nosler and 40gr of h4895

In my limited dealings with Ackleys I have come to understand that the best accuracy will only come to you once you are using fully formed brass for your loads. Stick with it and then do finer load developement once you have a batch of formed brass.
