    good, solid, 1k yard rangefinder

Not looking to drop 2k on something like a rangefinder but I do want a solid one for 1000-1200 yards. Any recommendations?

Try the Zeis PRF, order from scott at Liberty Optics, I believe he still has the 10% promotion going on, so $599 - 10% will get you the best LRF for around $500.

If you wat to consistantly range all types of things at 1000 yards, you'll need at least a 1500 yard one. If you just want to range more reflective items, then a 1000 yard one might do. My Nikon 1200 has ranged to +1600 yards on a large freeway sign and not given me a read at 450 yards on a brushy hillside.

The Swavorski Laser Guide will range out to 1,000 yards but is probably out of your price range.

I really like my Leupold RX-1000i unit works ever time and paid 350.00 for it.

                  Swarovski #1, Leica 1600 #2

Other than those a Leica 1200 is decent. Most of the rest will not reliably range reasonable sized targets at 1000 yards.
