I have a 30-30 that I like to shoot a lot. I don't use it to hunt. Just shooting. Right now, i'd like to get a BUDGET scope just to start playing around with one. I Since it's only a 150 yrd rifle, maybe a 4x scope? Can an "ok" scope be had for around $100? If so, which? Thanks people!

mueller makes some ok scopes in that range as does vortex, how ever, i really think you should wait and save some cash and get a scope that you know is good and not just settle. -
There are a number of good scope brands that can be had at a decent price. Too many to list really.
Avoid tasco, bsa, ncstar, and any other scope sold at walmart in a plastic container for $50.Comment

Jump up just a bit in price, and about $50 more will get you a good 3-9x40 redfield revolution or something similar. They have a couple reticles and are a GREAT value for what you get.Comment

For a true budget scope; my go-to is Bushnell Elite series. Few hundred more though, SWFA SS are about the best bang for buck scope on the market today.███ ████ everything ████ ███ ███████ ██ is ███████ fine █████.

Is it a Marlin or a Winchester?
If it is a Winchester (top ejection) then the proper mount and scope (e.g a scout scope) will be a lot more than the budget you talk about. AND, if you are talking 150 yards, a good ghost ring sight might do you as much good.
If its a Marlin (side ejection) then a low budget scope and the proper ammo can take you out to 200 yds or more.

I tested a UTG 4 X scope and was pretty set back by my findings. I abused the crap out of it to see if it would stand up.
In my review I put it under 10" of water for 20 minutes, put it directly in the freezer for 20 minutes, then brought it out in 80 degree weather.
It didn't fog and was clear.
I dropped it from my deck from 12 feet onto hard dirt.
It has held zero on .22's and 5.56's.
Really suprised me.
