75/77gr 5.56 ammo

I was told that shooting too much 75/77gr 5.56 ammo can wear out your rifles chamber. Anyone know this to be true?? Thanks.

On the contrary. Hot fast loads wear out chambers faster, which are usually lighter loads.
Why are you worried about wearing out a barrel? It will last 7500+ rounds before you would even think to replace it. And when you do, its like $200 bucks + $50 bolt

yup! going on over 9k rounds in mine using mostly 55gr PMC and 193 and a little bit of 62gr m855 still puts round holes in paper

C4 & Pthfndr....Thanks. I didn't think it sounded right. But the individual who told me is very well known in the firearms world locally and here on Calguns. So thought I would throw it out there and what guys had to say.

Consider that the ammo one puts through the barrel (5000-8000 rounds of target shooting accuracy) is going to cost many times more than the barrel. In general 77 grain ammo is going to be in the neighborhood of $0.75 - $1.25 per round, which means something in the range of $4,000 - $10,000 in ammo to wear out your barrel. Even if you use the cheapest ammo out there you are going to spend at least $3,000 on ammo before you wear out the barrel. So even if it were true that heavy bullets wore out barrels faster, and I have never seen any evidence that they do, the cost of barrels is just not an issue for ARs.
