french army might have crappy guns, but according to their commercial they bang a lot of hot chicks."Soldier, you need to turn your ACOG off before the batteries die." - PMI Instructor, subject matter expertComment

Contrary to popular belief, the French can be excellent soldiers--the problem is that their politicians, and especially the generals, are the.absolute.worst in the world. Considering our current lot, that's saying something!
Regarding the FAMAS: the reports that I've read indicate it is an accurate and reliable weapon, marred only by the ergonomic idiosyncrasies common to the bullpup class of firearm. It is light years ahead of the Chauchat (a firearm that I once had an ATF agent tell me does not meet the legal definition of a machine gun, because it won't fire two or more consecutive rounds with a single trigger pull. Yes, I know he was joking)."If a person who indulges in gluttony is a glutton, and a person who commits a felony is a felon, then God is an iron."--Spider Robinson.
"It is a ghastly but tenable proposition that the world is now ruled by the insane, whose increasing plurality will, in a few more generations, make probable the incarceration of all sane people born among them."--Clark Ashton Smith

That ad had me ready to sign-up. Oh wait, been there done that already (in our military).
The "girl in every port" approach to marketing the military is a huge selling point that our ads should definately include. At 17-19 that is all we can think about. Of course with this generation the might need to have some hot chick picking up another hot chick. Seriously though, for most of us ithe stereotype ends up being true. I had no shortage of women in my life back when I was a young airman bouncing from one overseas TDY to another, as did all my buddies. There was the occasionaly dorm rat who did terrible with the ladies but most guys had plenty or romantic drama going on off duty. The uniform is like catnip. Best time of my life.Last edited by tacticalcity; 12-13-2011, 11:41 AM.Comment

There are a few F1 FAMAS rifles in the US as semi-autos. They came in during the late 1980's before the ban. If you can find one, they command EXTREMELY high prices these days, over $10k easily. I saw one in Gun Broker in 2010 that was going for $10k anyway. Century Arms imported them I believe and they weren't very popular, less than 200 hit our shores.Comment

I'm in France on vacation and in the train stations and airports, the French soldiers walk around with some strange looking rifles. The magazines are behind the grip, sticking out from the bottom of the stock. There's also a 10" long "handle" that goes from the base of the barrel to the base of the stock. What gun is that?Comment
