    SKS Ventilated Handguard (pics inside)

    Hello -

I have a Yugo M59/66 and recently purchased a black steel ventilated hand guard.

However, I damaged the removable plate at the back of the gas block. Is it possible just to order this backing plate for replacement?

Also I can see that even if I can get the steel handguard to fit, it is about a 1/4" short and is pretty loose in there. I need to add some spacers to it, or something.

    Anybody have advice? Thanks

You screwed it up, but it looks like the gas tube is corroded, and you shouldn't have a hard time getting a replacement. The cheese grater I have has two 1/4" W shaped pieces of mild or srung steel at each end, that align the guard on the tube. The 2 gas ferrules hold the whole thing together. I have spot welds that tack these to the guard, NOT THE TUBE. You still need it pinned at both ends. PAX
