I know Chinese firearms are banned for import but what about parts kits? Did any make it in before the ban?

I've only seen the postban mak 90 kits. I've found a few demilled ones. Once in a while you may find one they go for $250-$500 depending on post or preban parts.
You can still buy a bwk92 or a mak91 if you can find one. Heres my bwk92 project(some have a slant cut receiver). The barrel was very hard to find. You might find a preban 84s barrel once in a while I've seen a few for sale this year.
If your a diehard 56 fan. You can look for a very rare golden state arms rifle. They were used in some movies and later sold. They were custom ordered and stamped differently. Very hard to find. Found 3 for sale. They were already sold. It's on my wish list.

I saw one on Gunbroker a few months ago. It was described as being rare and did not come with a barrel. I remember thinking the seller must be nuts asking so much (I cannot remember the exact price) for such an incomplete kit.

Aside from the fact that they are Chinese, what makes these any differnt from the handfull of other countries that made AKs? I always figured since the Chinese made AKs were usually 'out of spec' because of their RE and alterations that most people wouldn't want them so I never looked into them. Is there something I'm missing here?quemadmodum gladius neminem occidit, occidentis telum est. - Lucius Annaeus

Very close tolerances. Finer machining on parts. They have thicker diameter barrels like the milled rifles. I think they are one of the best given it is from a norinco factory. The stamp sheet is 1.5-1.6. yugos and the ssr85c2 are similar. More collectable because of the import ban. Some have had problems with the 223s a simple ramp like a m4 ramp on the barrel face is the fix for those since they're flat.2024 New Year?s resolution will be no posting..Comment

A couple of years ago at the SAR show in Phoenix a guy was selling cut up MAK 90 kits. Matching numbers on the trunion, bolt and bolt carrier. They were the non bayonet lug butt holes. They were bagged up for $200 each. You never know what you will find at that show.Comment
