VZ58 or 2 Saigas?

I've always wanted a VZ58, and asked my local gun dealer if he could get me a Cali model from Czechpoint. Czechpoint has a model with a detachable mag, but it can also be stripper clip fed from the top, ala SKS. I have an SKS and stripper clips, so it would be an easy transition.
I then asked to look at a Saiga, he's got them in 7.62x39, and 5.56. I can buy 2 Saigas for the same price as a VZ58. Then I started thinking agout the hi cap AR and AK mags I have, and I looked up an AR mag adapter for a Saiga. I'm kind of leaning toward the Saigas. I would not convert them, so I could use my old mags. Opinions?

The VZ58s are really nice, but mags are a beyotch to find, along with other parts to fit it.


Really in CA, id stick with a standard pattern AK and go featureless with it to keep 30 round free droping mags.

I want a vz58 to add to my collection... Its getting pretty big with the ak platform!
With that said,,,,, if I only had one or two ak variants i'd go with the saigas 762x39 and 545x39......

I would do a 556 with the magwell mod to use Pmags though. That set up is pretty nice.

They make the VZ58 in 5.56 now and it has an adaptor to take AR mags...
