    PWS FSC556 Legal in CA?

PWS FSC556, CA DOJ think it's a muzzle brake, or a flash hider?
I want enjoy shooting, but don't want troubles.
    Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, CA DOJ has no letter/saying on this yet. Maybe you can ask them and post result here.

In my non-legal opinion its a muzzle brake. The diameter of the muzzle brake exit hole is the same size as the diameter of the bore.

Flash hider has a larger hole on the hider to release gasses faster.

I have one on my 21" Noveske ar-10 and I like it. It's LOUD, but I like loud!

I wouldn't put it on a featureless rifle, but it's completely legal for a bullet-buttoned AR.

Yes, my AR build will have a fixed bullet-button and short 10rd Magazine, but it's pistol grip.

Then being flash hider or muzzle brake is not an issue. Either way it's legal. Enjoy your build.

Thank you guys! I also know the BATFE document here:

But I just want to double check if it's ok on my 10rds / bullet-buttoned AR.

              : )

Flash suppressor vs brake only comes into play on a featureless rifle. You are fine to use this on a BB'd rifle.

And FYI, the BATFE letter doesn't hold any authority in regard to CA laws. So if you decide to change your rifle config to featureless, the FSC556 will be a no-go since the tines on the end of it do suppress flash signature (as they are designed to).

                  Thanks a lot!
BTW, if I want to buy this BCM 14.5 upper + Pinned FSC556, it's legal in CA? not SBR,right?

Perfectly legal if pinned permanently in place. No SBR.
