What exactly does a Maglock do?

    Hello,

I live in Florida and will be moving to California in December and I don't really know anything about California Gun Laws. What I read online from googling is that rifles in California need to have a mag lock attached to it. Well being from Florida and the fact that we don't have any laws like that I have no idea what it is and what it does. I tried googling but couldn't find out what it really does. So if someone wouldn't mind telling me that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Luke

    LOCK, not safe

what it does it stops the magazine from being released without the use of a tool.

They probably meant a magazine lock. It's also called a bullet button. There is plenty of info here about them.

Edit: Fatal beat me to it.

it sucks, but we have some court cases fighting the law right now

Yeah it seems like a pretty stupid law. Sucks too cause I was about to buy an Armalite M15A2 but then I found out it's illegal in California.
