Do you need an actual safe or just a cabinet to lock stuff away?

    I have a stack-on 8-gun cabinet and it only cost 90 bucks.

Yep- both that stack on and Homack make decent gun CABINETS, as in security cabinets.....for under than price; I've had a few over the years and love them. But they are no substitute for a true safe. Some say better than nothing....if its kids you're worried about then I subscribe to that line. If you are worried about thieves, fires, etc...then these are NOT the way to go.....

You might get a SAFE--- DOOR for $200...and build it into a closet. that'll slow 'em a bit...more than a security cabinet, less than a full safe.

X-mas is coming, Walmart and the biggies tend to have the homacks and stack ons for sale...I'd look around starting.....NOW

if you are worried about the common thieves that have no safe cracking experiance, then the home depot sentry gun safe is the one for you, its $300 i think. if you want an actual safe thats not easy to break into, then you are going to spend alot of money. and i mean alot.

I bought the Stack-On 10-gun safe w/ digital lock at Discount Gun Mart for $349.99 plus tax. I'm happy with it. Although in hindsight I should of bought the 16-gun safe for the guns I plan on buying.

Hard case...maybe...but I'd lock THAT to something strong.

The local safe place here frequently has used ones for sale. They don't have them on the showroom floor but all you've gotta do is ask. Normally they're 15+ years old but they still work fine. They normally get them in when a customer buys a bigger one to replace it. Nothing at all wrong with them, they've just been outgrown. They're just proof of find the biggest one you can afford and then buy one bigger than that.

Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.
