Why not to buy an I.O. (pics)

    Photo0222.jpg

First off Im not exactly sure if the pics came out lol im new to this. Well anyways if you guys can see the pics you will see that suprise suprise my I.O. Casar jammed, more than 6 times in about 100 rounds...It only jammed on the last round of the magazine except for 1 time...any idea on what is causing it? Also I noticed that it was having the same problem as before about every 20 rounds the "hammer" or whatever it is called on an AK does not cock back or lock on the trigger as it should there for it can not strike the firing pin since it is already rested against it and not locked back by the trigger assembley so when I go to pull the trigger its just slack as if the gun is not loaded or cocked.....sadly for now Im stuck with this gun Im going to have a buddy work on it for me sometime soon but in the mean time does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to at least stop the jamming...Im thinkin the mag needs to be replaced for starters and obviously my ejector isnt functioning correctly either.....HELP!!!!!!! lol

P.S. I know my firearm knowledge is not extensive so please pardon the poor firearm lingo lol

Dude, sorry your going thru this & pardon me, but I.O. are not known for their quality builds. It sounds though that you may have a loose/missing/displaced shepherd Hook! It sound like its a trigger mechanism problem....

Make sure S.hook is in its place holding the trigger & hammer axles in their respective notches on the receiver.

    My 2 cents

Usually a conistent jam on the last rund in a magazine is cused by 1 of 3 things:

      1) a bad magazine
      2) a reciver that is not true (straight, square, missaligned, etc)
      3) a poor fit between the magazine and the mag well

Try a new magazine first. If that does not work turn it in for a new one. Based on your description of the following hammer and the consistent last round jamming I am guessing your reciever is out of spec and probably not true. This can mean a number of things such as pin holes in the incorrect location and/or a slightly warped reciever. If you can't turn it in you may try running a couple hundred rounds through the gun. Sometimes these things work themselves out, but very very cautious when doing it.

Ya the mag is defeninatly garbage lol the wobble is rediculous side to side and front to back the reciever seems to be straight I cant see any visible warps or creases and the rivets all seem to be seated properly so maybe a new mag will fix the jaming issue but the trigger disconnect problem is very confusing and frustrating

I heard that I.O. uses proprietary mags that hold the bolt open upon firing the last round. If that's the case, then I would recommend that you use a normal mag & see how the rifle functions then.

If the problem persists; then you should return the rifle for warranty/safety inspection ASAP. Its a safety issue now, and if you think exploding AKs don't exist, think again, they do:

Mag wobble does NOT cause any mechanical problems! But, try a different mag first. If that isn't the problem, it'll probably be the rails are too high and therefor the mag is mounted too high. Then, when the last round is fired, the follower is pinching the bolt carrier and not allowing it to return to battery.

Well even when I first purchased the gun and it wasnt jamming it never locked back the bolt...but I notices the notches on the mag that lock into the reciever are not even and Im sure that is why the wobble is so bad...nothing like a defective magazine from I.O. I wish my gun would go full auto so I could sue them lol. The company is a joke, now I have to have my buddy basically strip it down and rebuilt it

Both now, I know that front to back wobble will make it so the bullets wont feed correctly but is that fixed by replacing the mag or is it possibly a bigger prob?

The TAPCO 10 round mags work great and fit snug in most AK-47. I sell them on my web site for $11.50.

Where are you located? Someone else might be able to spot the problem with a hands on look.

While I like RCM and have ordered from him a few times, be warned that Tapco mags have been know to fit 11 rounds in them. I know that I bought one that did. So, aside from the high cap mag laws, if you put a +10 round mag into a semi auto centerfire rifle with a fixed mag (magazine lock), you are creating an AW. Maybe RCM verifies the capacity of his Tapco 10 round mags. I really don't know. Just check the capacity of any mag before installing it into a mag locked rifle.
