What's the new hot red dot optic?

I'm finally in the market for a red dot for my AR. Took long enough right?!?!

I'm looking at the h-1 after coming from so set on the comp M2.

But I have really seen all these posts and must have an aimpoint and a eotech start to fade off.. Is there a better new optic in the works I don't know about?

I don't want to drop this $500 and then a month later my optic is out of date and im again behind on times..

Application I'm looking to use this is for 3gun HD and SHTF. Yes SHTF, the reason 90% of us secretly bought a black rifle in the first plsce

And I don't want glass I already have a dedicated longer range" rifle for that. This is for pure sub 200 yards

But 90% comp use 9% HD and .5% SHTF. Other .5% I'm not sure yet

I'm asking what's the update on new red dots is there another in the works or is the aimpoints and eotechs still running the game.

Differant approach I know how good those optics are I'm just making sure those are still the top dogs and are going to be for at least a little while longer.

The answer is no. There is not new glass in the red dot market that has knocked Aimpoint or EoTech off their pedestals.

In the ACOG style magnification world, eClan has knocked Trijicon into second place...but at four times the price.

I'm more of an EoTech guy than an Aimpoint one (after years of swaying back and forth). The reticle is second to none and much easier to pickup when running and gunning than the simple dot of the aimpoint. Aimpoint fanboys will cry about the lesser battery life of the EoTech, and act like Aimpoints batteries last so long you would never ever ever ever ever have it die on you. The truth is, they both last an extremely long time and will more than meet your needs and the odds of going to use it and find a dead battery are damn slim with both for a couple years. If you can't be bothered to install a new battery two or more years from now...spend four times the money and get something tritium based.

For a traditional M4 style rifle, I like the full size EoTechs like the 552 on a LaRue for looks. The rifle is already light so it won't hurt. For the custom rifles with the extended rails I like the EXPS models with the built in throw lever riser. The lesser weight helps. You get the easier to pickup EoTech reticle either way.

That said I am considering trying a Burris 1-4 Variable Scope in an American Defense or LaRue mount on my Recon Rifle next. It was always supposed to be a range whore, and my M4 was supposed to be my CQB Course rifle. Until now they have both been used more like CQB rifles.

For what its worth, Im a dot guy. I run primary arms stuff, its solid, it works, it holds zero. If it were a duty weapon, id go aimpoint. But its a range toy/3gun rifle. SHTF, id be using irons anyways, after beating my neighbors to death with my rifle stock and breaking whatever dot i had on there.

Awsome that's the kinda answer I was lookin for thanks tac. Just want to be sure before I blow $500+ I'm gettin the best there is and not a gone with the wind out dated system.
