Dropped my rifle (AR-15) for the first time, on concrete, directly on its optic!

Rock Islander, you now know why "buy once, cry once" is a valid statement. If it had been a bottom-dollar RDS, you may well have been picking up pieces. As it stands, you can have confidence in a good piece of gear.

Cheap stuff goes on range toys. Good gear goes on something you might have to stake your life on.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I can't wait for this weekends IDPA match because there are a a few rifle stages mixed in. I will get a chance to really use my AR and get a few good scratches on it

I bet everything slowed down to 600 frames per second as it dropped to the floor, at least your optics and rifle survived.

Don't do that. If the front sight is canted, adjust the windage.

That doesn't sound so "durable" to me. It sounds like if enough impact is applied to the front sight in the "field", it can throw off your front sight yet again. At which point your weapon's zero is completely lost. At least the AR-15's standard front sight is drilled and pinned into the barrel, eliminating that issue altogether.

Sounds like you don't know much/anything about AKs.
....i agree with m03 please go look at an Ak, if you do you will obviously see the front sight is pinned.

That's why you pay what you pay for them. You get what you pay for. Our men and women overseas abuse their rifles much worse than your AR's fall.
