How to get SCAR16S into State Legally

I read up on posts that have the maglocks and pinned stocks installed prior to entering the state. Some of these guys want an arm and a leg to modify and some won't even install the maglock, but they will disassemble parts.

Can the rifle disassembled to a point to legality? Remove stock and pistol grip and separate it from the upper receiver? Help me out here please.

BTW. I don't want to permanently pin the stock right now. I'd rather jump on the price and wait for a fixed stock to become available. For the price I am paying, I don't want permanent or even signs of modifications. Is there a device to lock the folding stock?

Where do you live? You could just walk into Riflegear and buy one that has been made CA legal.

Many out of state shops would install these at about $70. They are really easy to install .... You can definitely do these yourself.

Sure, just remove the pistol grip. No BB required after that, that is how Big5 and other places sell firearms without BB's.

^ not that simple in this case.
that still leaves you with the issue of the folding stock. The easiest way to do it is to have the upper and lower new york times receiver separated prior to shipping, then you make it compliant once it is in the states

I don't want a New York Times Upper ... same restrictions as a California Times Upper !! I would prefer a Texas Times Upper any time!

So all that needs to be done is separate the upper half from the lower half before shipping? Then I can make it compliant with parts when available or when I have time?

Have them ship just the upper to the FFL, and all other parts to you. Simple, no BS...

                          +1

Or ask the seller if they would install the bb and stock pin for you and then ship to the ffl of your choice.

I had a buddy go the other route and he never got the original mag release parts and they pinned the stock in such a way that if you moved out of state you would need to punch the main roll pin out to return the folding stock back to a functioning assembly. I'd take a torn down SCAR, install the aftermarket CNC folding stock button (a calgunner sells them, they lock the stock extended) and a Radlock in lieu of the bastard setup/situation he ended up with.

My .02, but the shipper doesn't get stuck dealing with CA BS and thus doesn't get discouraged from future sales. FN has limited distributors in CA and because of said laws most are paying artificially higher prices because of low inventory, dealers aren't complaining. Out of state sales keep the market fair and competitive.

Did you mean the lower goes to the FFL? or is the upper the FFL portion on a SCAR?
