    AR choices

    Daniel Defense M4 v. Larue PredatAR v. StagArms 2t or 3.

I want a reasonably accurate and durable/reliable AR for range and defense that could survive a thorough tactical carbine class and similar real world scenarios.

I have narrowed it to the above 3...Spending limit near $1500.

Experienced opinions help. It will be my first AR. Not into building one at the moment. Alternative suggestions welcomed.

    TIA

DD M4 is the way to do, HP and MPI tested bolt and barrel.

I own a Stag 2T and it works fine and will meet your needs just fine, but when compared to the other 2 choices, I'd personally go with the DDM4. I had to make this same choice a few months ago and went with the Stag because it was cheaper and was having trouble finding the DDM4v2 in stock locally.

thank you for the feedback. I'm having a hard time discerning the difference between the V2-4 from DD.

The only difference is the rail and gas system. Figure out what type of gas system you want first, then figure out the rail length, then match the version that fits your criteria.

DDM4 for the purpose you're looking for.

I'd go with the Daniel Defense.

Go with the V3 mid-length gas system is the best.

The DD is a great buy, but I too have a 2T. It was my first AR and I I've put about 1500 rounds through it so far. Absolutely NO issues other than my fancy schmancy bullet button rattling a little after I put about 100rnds of 62gn in a rapid fire fashion through it. Tightened it up, and not an issue ever since. I can honestly say out of all the AR's I'll have, my first one will always be my baby
All three choices are great! DD would be a front runner for me.

                        Lightweight or standard and why?

Lightweight, there is no need for a standard unless you will be shooting full auto or with a suppressor. I've gone through many AR's in my life, and all the ones I own now are lightweight, 6oz makes a big difference. Mid-length because it recoils less, and is more reliable.

DD would be better suited in my opinion as it has the chrome lined barrel. The Larue shouldn't have a problem either but ON PAPER the stainless steel barrel and pencil profile could be a problem even though I've heard pencil profile barrels do just fine in carbine course. Plus you don't really care if the groups open up from rapid fire since your shooting man sized targets at close range.

They say chrome lined barrels have longer lives (round count) though.
