AR build question

Im a noob to the whole AR thing so go easy

Im just tryin to line up exactly what i want before i start piecing it together.

Decided i want the Mega Monolithic upper in midlength

So heres my question. That item obvious doest have all the required upper reciever parts. What else do i need besides the barrel?
and can i purchase them already assembled?

If not whats the easiest way to go about this?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

barrel, gas block, charging handle, gas tube, flash hider, bolt carrier group and an action block to hold the receiver to torque down the barrel

Barrel, bolt group and charging handle. If your barrel doesn't come with it, it will need a gas tube and gas block. Most online retailers sell complete bolt groups. What kind of front sight do you want, rail mounted or barrel mounted?

depends on the barrels. You can find some with a lo pro gas block already, but most barrels and the other stuff will have to be done individually

oh crap one more quick question!

Are 14.5 inch barrels legal in california? or does it have to be 16 inch minimum?

14.5 is ok but you need to have a longer flash hider permanently pinned to make it 16". Palmetto state armory has a 14.7 barrel and that can use a standard flash hider to make it 16 but still has to be pinned

Not going to save you anything except the cost of pinning the muzzle brake, it does give you the ability to change brakes though. What's more important to you ability to change muzzle devices or having the rifle be as short as legally possible?

It will save you $25 to $50 not having to get it pinned somewhere. Really not someting you wanna try right away on your own

Unless you plan on pinning and welding it yourself you'll probably end up saving a few bucks going with the 16". Quick way to check would be to price the barrel you're looking at and find out the going rate the local gunsmiths charge.

If you are in the area near me, I can pin it for you..... but to forewarn you I don't believe you can get that barrel back off ever without first destroying the flash hider due to the design of that upper. If you want a truly serviceable monolithic upper LMT is the way to go, but they use proprietary barrels

Oh and if you are gonna do it that way, make sure you don't have the lower already before it is pinned.... constructive possession
