Is the new Colt 6920MP legal in CA

I have been having a lot of CA customers ask me about this gun and whether it is legal (because of the different roll marks).

    Anyone know?

If it says 6920 on it, I would stay away. I don't see it in the pics though. IANAL

      been discussed a lot lately
I take a mechanical approach to it.

If does not have a banned name physically on it, it should be good to go.

I have talked to a couple CA FFL dealers and they are fine with doing the transfer on it (as long a BB is installed).

Despite the rollmarks on the lower receiver, what is the name of the rifle? Rock River Arms has a few banned by name rifles that use off list lowers.

The lower isn't marked which is fine, but the whole rifle being called "sporter" by Colt is on shaky ground similar to the RRA issue. Kinda like the 6920LE being banned and the 6921/6940 aren't even though the lower is 100% the same. The lower shouldn't be an issue at all by itself though

If buyer want to pay for extra shipping, you can send just the lower (in a plain box)to his FFL without the BB and send rest of the items (upper...) to buyer's directly.

This is the best way about it right there. Of course if you are gonna offer these specific lowers stripped like the sporter lower is offered on your site..... Count me in!

If you also can take the mags apart and send them as parts kit to buyer directly that would be

I was wondering this too because a certain distributor had begun marketing these for sale with BB's already installed. This is the first clear picture I've seen of the roll marks. Looks good!

According to the CA Roberti-Roos AW list, under Appendix B, it specifically lists Colt: Law Enforcement (6920) and Colt: Sporter (all). Since it doesn't say neither of those on the receiver anymore, I would call that as legal.

Looks legal to me-- any LOCAL dealers willing to bring one in with BB
installed? As far as "SP" in the serial (regardless of what it actually stands for),
does not say "SPORTER" on the rcvr.I don't even think a CA court could
nail anyone on that because the original list is SO specific ie. (the way
the lawmakers put it together). I would like to have one. Pete

If I recall correctly, the Law Enforcement (6920) said Law Enforcement on the side right? This says M4 Carbine. The Kasler List says,
                        Colt
                        Law Enforcement (6920)
                        Match Target (all)
                        * AR-15 (all)
                        Sporter (all)
This is clearly off-list anyway you cut it. I would do one most happily, even with more confidence than I did 6940s, but I was fine with those too.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

The Box it comes in says Colt AR15 and Model 6920.
Colt will testify the SP before the serial number stands for SPORTER.

                          Just saying...

We will eventually offer these lowers.
