    Russian ARs, now a reality.

    In a Russian AK manufacturer Molot, who are a subsidiary of AK-74/AK-1xx maker Izhmash and who make the VEPR AK-style rifles, announced at the Moscow ARMS & Hunting ’11 expo that they would be producing an AR-15 style rifle called the HPE-140 (впо-140).The rifle is in a M4 configuration and includes a quad rail, ergonomic pistol grip and muzzle brake.It weighs ~7 lbs.



    I'd love to have one of those lowers, to complement my Mosins!

      I love my Mosins, but my ARs are expressly American - and I've loved that about them.

        All about making some profit. Almost exclusively targeted for U.S market.

        As there already not enough AR makers here. Only way it would sell well is if it's same price as their Saigas.

                  Looking at that Russian blog, the price for it is going to be $1700-2000.

                  And there's a middy vs. carbine discussion going on in the comments section there was, sans the language, sounds oddly familiar...

                            From the comments, they're trying to be the cool kids, and to buy one gun with multiple uppers, so that they only have to "apply for one firearm license". I guess, a receiver is the firearm there too.

                              Semi auto rifles are very restrictive in Russia and even more so in that configuration. Basically you have to own a shotgun and hunting license for 5 years before you can buy one.
                              Most European countries are even worst.
                              U.S would be the most logical. Who knows, maybe they found or came up with some loop-hole.

                              For that asking price this is more of an experimental joke of some sort.
