    Help picking a complete upper?

    Hey all,

so I finally decided to dust off the stripped lower I bought and build my AR. However I have some questions about uppers. In general, what are some "good brands" and "not-so-good brands?" I know overall weight of the gun can be a big factor but I am not seeing weight in the details of uppers online. As far as twist, it seems "1/7" is pretty common?

I stumbled upon sabre defence uppers and like the looks of a few but havent heard much about the brand on here. I feel like I'm rambling now so I'll wrap this up, but I am just out of my element when it comes to constructing a rifle. any advice would be appreciated.

carbine or rifle....how much money do you want to spend?

It all depends on how much money you are willing to spend. Many great uppers in the sub $700 range.

Stag Arms is the best bang for the buck IMO.

I guess I'm not completely sure of the differences between a carbine and rifle. I'm looking to spend no more than $800, but the cheaper the better.

Spike's - cheap, reputable, but you have to wait.

Why don't you post a picture of the type of AR you want and we can help you even more.

I would worry less about brand and worry more about finding the right upper for your intended purposes. What do you want to do with it? Use optics?

Yes, Sabre Defense is good stuff but IIRC, they filed for backrunptcy last year and I wouldn't expect any warranty support or customer service.
