Anyone have any experience with one of these?

I was looking around for a handstop for my ar, and I happened upon one of theses:

Anyone out there have one of these?

I couldn't stomach paying $45+ for a "Named" manufacturer so I did some looking around.

Ergo is actually a good brand.

However, I run featureless and I'm not sure if this would be legal for me. As retarded as it might look, I can see some lesser informed LEO see it as a forward pistol grip.

    Hopefully, I am wrong.

Now if you run fixed mag, I would actually prefer this over the 'named' brand.

Its cheap, but it doesn't look like its worth it....
I think it'll be better if you just trained your hands where to grip it everytime...

At $8 bucks shipped......might be worth a shot.....

But yeah, my hands slip from going up from a low ready position driving forward....a handstop could be useful if it prevents me from losing a finger, or two

I much prefer the LaRue tactical handstops for that application. They're only $25 for 2, but you either need the LaRue index clips or some other rail guards to keep them in place.

Thx DJleisure, that's actually more along the lines of what I'm looking for, the ergo looks pretty damn huge. You have those? What are your thoughts on them?

Yeah, I run one on my lightweight build and love it. The LaRue index clips work well (obviously) and you get the ones with a little cord channel, so you can route remote light switches and stuff - pretty cool if you need them for that. I have XTM rail panels to keep it in place and they work just fine.

I use it just like this:

I think I would trim down the end of it a little bit with a dremel, but the ERGO one is a great product for the price. I'm going to snag one and mod it a little bit I think. The KAC or Larue one is a bit rich for my blood on a 9 cent piece of molded plastic. Some of the metal ones that are out there are really solid, but I can't see forking out 60 or 80 bucks for a handstop that does exactly that; stop my hand...

This is what I was planning. But the LaRue style is more along the lines of what I was looking for... Post up your work, I'm seriously interested in how it turns up!

I like the Gear Sector better, as they are flat on the non-hand side and make a good stop for the end of your forarm rail that you can use as a brace against barriers, ect. They are more expensive though.
