    AR Buttstock Question?

I have an AR15 and want to switch the buttstock. I would like something collapsible and adjustable any suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to go with something high end rather than a cheapy. Someone suggested a Magpul CTR is that a good buttstock?

No matter which stock you put on, make sure that your AR is at least 30 inches overall length with the stock collapsed.

The CTR is great but I wouldn't call it high end. The Magpul UBR is more high end than that.

I'm pretty happy with my Tapco collapsible stock that came as a complete kit . It doesn't rattle around like the original 4 position stock and is maybe a couple of inches longer when extended.

That brings up the subject of slightly different diameters between commercial and military buffer tubes, and also the difference between rifle and carbine buffer tube assemblies. The former you simply need to get compatible parts, but for a swap between the latter you might need to mess with the timing a bit -- be prepared to spend some more money.

I just put an HP Armory buttstock on my rifle. I love it. I can finally have a secure placement on my shoulder AND still see through the scope. They are advertising on Calguns. Take a look at their thread in the commercial sales forum. My rifle is in post #26.

You really need to play with different stocks. As you can see everyone has posted different things, why you ask we all like different stocks.

I actually do not mind a standard (not a cheap on) m4 stock. Or a simple A2. My favorite is Vltor's though.

I sell a crap ton of magpul ones though, some are better then others.

I've never even heard of an AR collapsible stock that makes the rifle shorter then 30" OAL, at least not when using a 16" OAL barrel.
