    AR Build

Im looking to build an AR (or have one built) and the only AR I have shot is an HK416 and I love it of course I have nothing to compare it to either. I was looking at getting the civilian version of this weapon but it is way to expensive. Any suggestions on building one such as parts and stuff or what to get or what to avoid? Ive been looking on here for the last couple weeks and seen a whole bunch of different stuff.

Stag model 8 piston has worked well for many without approaching H K prices.

newfrontierarmory.com has c-15 complete lowers with stock for 130, add one of their under 500 dollar .223 uppers for an awesome gun. Mine both turn in < .5" groups with good ammo and 1" groups with junk 55gr surplus ball.

the uppers come with yankee hill furniture, Black Hole Weapons barrels, keyhole receivers, YHM flash hider/brake and BCG/CH included. Black hole barrels are awesome.

That opens you up to some very solid rifles.

Are you looking for a piston gun? If so, LMT would be my recommendation, but it goes beyond your budget. Addax might be able to build you a gun that's close to your budget range. You can call Chris and talk to him.

If DI is ok; Daniel Defense, Colt, BCM, LMT etc.

A Ruger AR is American piston for civies. Close to your range. Stag is do-able for 1200$. Check riflegear.
For a DI operation the Paralax store brand upper can't be beat. With any lower and stock you are in for less than 1g. $$$ left for optics and ammo.

I have a Ruger piston AR and am pleased with it. It was my first AR platform rifle though, so I have no real reference frame other than shooting my friend's DI AR a handful of times.

If you're near a Turners, the SR-556E model is still on sale through the 15th for $1099.
