ak-47 cleaning rod hang up

I cleaned my ak-47 today and took out the stock cleaning rod. I went to put it back in after cleaning the gun and it will not go in all the way so I can lock it in. Has anyone had any issues with this and is there any tricks that I haven't tried?

I don't know about tricks putting it back in, but on my WASR I noticed that the posts that hold the rod don't line up properly with the receiver. The rod goes all the way until it smacks the receiver, then you need a flat head to pry it up to fit all the way. I just leave my rod in the gunbag since it's a PITA to put it back.

Ya it was a pain to put it back in. I think I'm just going to leave it in and just use my rod that came with the cleaning kit.
