    Ruger mini 14

Been looking at a Ruger Mini 14.

Whats your opinion on the gun?

    If you have one...PICTURES!

    Thanks all!

I have one, I love it.

Paid $500 for it, no BB to mess around with and with just the basic Iron sites I can hit a half gallon jug full of ice at 150 yards.
Yes, I am an electrical engineer.
No, I will not fix your computer.

I have one and like it but I'm selling it to fund a long range rifle. I'm sure I will regret it later but I don't enjoy it at 200+ yards.

It is a ton of fun and absolutely reliable for me at close range.

Have a stainless ranch mini 14, got it new for under $500 awhile ago. added an amega ranges picatinny rail/mount along with a red dot. love the thing, easy to maintain and always goes boom. did i mention that it's also the choice of the A-Team? I pity the fool who doesn't own one or three

Totally depends on what you want to use it for. Think of it as a bone stock base model 10-22. Reliable and tons of fun.

However, if you find the need to put a match barrel and totally fix up a 10-22, then you should just go with an AR, especially if you are buying new.

All I know about them is that they're good trunk rifle and when you shoot brass flys up to eight feet away.
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

Very reliable firearm. The ones at New Folsom NEVER get cleaned, ever. And they work every time. The only thing that wears out are the magazines.

If you have 10+ round magazines it is very nice. Even if you don't, it is still a great gun. The Mini-14 and mini-30 are excellent firearms. Also no BB

Bought mine eons ago. $650 from Branden's (Sacramento), Ranch Rifle with factory folding stock, cut barrel with a welded on Bushmaster FH. I can group <2" at 100yds with my 10x scope. Beyond that, it's time to switch to a 30rd mag and let loose! Ultra reliable, shoots clean or dirty. It was a former prison rifle (possibly). I have a Ciener conversion kit to shoot 22LR out of it.

Took off the folder because the folder is worth more than the rifle!

I love my 581 mini. Got it at Big5 on sale as well. Went to the range, put 100rds through it and I am completely happy with it. Only downside to me owning a mini- being to my right. I almost hit the gent next to me at USI earlier this week. He looked over, said "you've got a mini?" He laughed when I nodded yes. Got to cdnn, they've got 10rd mags on sale for 19.99- limit 3. Mine came in yesterday.

                          ^^^This

I was at Chabot, setting up my Ranch and the fellow to my right offer me some cardboard in order to not lose an eye! Hahaha! I laughed and show him my brass catcher and he had a good chuckle.

Be careful with the mags. I spent 3 range trips trying to get my lazy brother's mini to shoot at all. Whole time it was an after market mag. His was unlabeled. As soon as I bought and slapped in a ProMag it functioned flawlessly. Haven't tried any other mags, just be wary of what you buy. Ruger mags fine, of course.
