    AR Canted Sight

So I inherited this upper (long story) with an A2 FSB that is not aligned correctly (slightly off to the left). Don't know if the manufacturer or the guy who built it are responsible for the screw up, but at least cycling is fine.

Is there any way this can be corrected? Or do I resign myself to just using this upper with a scope/holo sight?

I take it, it's beyond the ability of the rear sight to correct?

And I just have to ask. Is this a Century-built AR?

Ha. Good one. But no, it's not. I guess other places use monkeys too.

I'd bet that it's the original manufacturer, not the builder. Which manf. made/supplied the barrel?

The only way to really fix it properly (if it's really off) is to remove the front sight, fill in the slots and the holes in the FSB and then re-drill it.

If I were you, I would just get another barrel/FSB. If you really like that barrel, you could also get one of those "bolt on" FSB's. If you don't mind changing the configuration, you could go with a low profile gas block and add a rail mounted flip-up or fixed front sight.

Here's JP's...you can adjust the gas on this one too:

You could also go with one of these and leave it flipped up all the time:

I can fix it for you if you would care to ship it to Santa Cruz area. I can get you to within 1-1/2 moa (usually less) of your mechanical wind zero, and reset the taper pins. The cost is $75 plus parts if needed. 1 week turn around, 20 + years experience with US service rifles, FFL licensed and insured.

+1 to this. By remounting and fixing the barrel all this goes away without buying another gas block and junk you don't need.

Thanks, Ken, I might just do that. I will email you detailed pics first. The upper is from an ASA-15 (circa 1999).

OK Please do. PM or email.
Havent seen one yet that couldn't be straightened out. In my experience, it is rarely the indexing pin. It is usually the FSB installed out of alignment.

I' would put a free float rail (Troy TRX Extreme is a good/affordable option) or tube on it with a low profile gas block...
