Which trigger for AR-10

I recently purchased an AR10 which has a TM lower & DPMS LPK. I pick it up Saturday and will shoot it Sunday, but will probably want to swap out the trigger.

I'll be using this for mostly long range 600yds+ but there will definately be times I am shooting under 200yds.

Not using for any competition but I do want to improve accuracy any way I can.

There are 2 that have been recommended and wanted to get some other opinions.

From what i have found Timney only offers only 1 trigger for an AR10 and it costs $249.

Geissele offers multiple triggers and the prices vary. Just got an email back from Geissele and he recommended http://geissele.com/hi-speeddesignat...ifledmr-1.aspx

can anyone recommend which way to go. I have no problem paying more for a quality product. But there needs to be advantages for spending more on a similar product.

Geissele all the way. I do not like the adjustable ones though, just my personal opinion though.

I love the Geissele triggers. My favorite are ssa's and s3g's. The s3g has a super short reset and great for close in carbines. The ssa's are the best 2 stage I have ever played with and cost less then some. You don't have to stop at the second stage either so you can use in an everyday carbine too.

The AR-15 timney uses lightened springs and I have seen 2 that started light striking on a regular basis. Granted these both had many thousands of rounds on them. Maybe I got 2 bad ones I do not know. However the trigger pull is wonderful as well and for a single stage trigger it is a very clean trigger. If mine didn't light strike I'd still use it as I used to love it.

Geissele is the only way to go. Those triggers are amazing, the only problem with them is once you get one you will never want to shoot your stock triggers again.

I agree with BigNick 100%. I only use their triggers now on my personal AR's.

I have tried the Rock River match, and found it to be a fine upgrade from a basic ar trigger, and very inexpensive for what you get. I also used a Jard adjustable ar-10 trigger for a while, but I did hot like the lightened hammer spring (it greatly increases the lock time on a rifle that already has a very long lock time). Then I got the Geissele adjustable match trigger and it is definitely the best of the bunch.

The link you provided shows a large pin version of the Geissele, but are you sure your receiver is large pin. Like many Californi AR style rifle owners, all my lowers were bought separately in order to get something not on the list of illegal "assault rifles", but none of my ar-15 or ar-10/lr 308 lowers used large trigger pins.

I went for the lightest pull weight version of the adjustable trigger, and I use it a pretty much the lightest possible setting, yet that doesn't seem too light for any use I might have.

Normally I like single stage triggers but there are engineering reasons why a light single stage trigger isn't really practical on an autoloading rifle (mostly has to do with keeping the rifle from doubling, or accidental discharge). The next best solution is a crisp second stage that allows for a reasonable overall pull but only a slightly higher second stage for letting off the shot as you pass the aim point (ideally you just slowly pull the trigger while holding the rifle dead on target but in the real world the gun always moves some so you have to carefully pull while passing the aim point). I would also point out that if you are expecting any ar trigger to be as good as a high quality bolt action target trigger you will be disappointed. Until someone makes an electronic trigger for the ar I don't see a way to make an autoloader trigger that is both very light (smooth crisp, reliable, fast etc.) and still safe.

I have a Timney in my AR-15 and I can say for certain that the Geissele triggers have a crisper break. I like my Timney, but I just tried a 2 stage Geissele and was wishing I got that.....especially for the same price.

Can't wait until the Geissele Super Two Stage (S2S) Trigger comes out. Supposed to be about $50 cheapper then the SSA but supposed to operate the same. we will see

I did a ton of research into the same thing recently, and I went with a geisselle ssa-e. you will be hard pressed to find a bad review of any of their triggers. you can get the ssa for around $170, or the ssa-e for $200, so as they are not cheap, they are not ridiculously expensive either.

I agree with most on here. Geissele SSA all the way! I have one in my AR-15 and I couldn't be happier with my trigger.
