    Shipping empty brass question

Can you ship empty brass with a firearm? I know you can't ship loaded ammo in the same container as a firearm. BB

    good to go
it no different than any other metal

though does the brass have live primer in place?
O ya and what type of shipping are you talking about?
like the mail or airline baggage?

I don't know of any reason why you couldn't.

ETA: Above poster makes a good point. If there are live primers, then it's ORM-D and has to be shipped like other ammo.

Thanks guys, I forgot to mention "fired" empty brass, no live primer. I didn't think there'd be a problem just wanted somemore opinions. BB

Primed brass (with no powder or projectiles) is actually totally exempted from haz-mat requirements when shipped within the U.S. They don't require ORM-D markings like ammo does.

The USPS still forbids mailing them, and private carriers might have their own policies about shipping them with a firearm, but if you are shipping primed brass via UPS or FedEx there are no marking requirements for the package at all.

Pistols are shipped new with the brass from the rounds they test fired the weapons with everyday.

So would fired brass, no live primer be able to be mailed via USPS with the rifles? USPS is usually cheaper to ship long guns than UPS, for me anyway. BB

While I haven't shipped any myself, I've received a few flat-rate boxes filled to the brim of used brass. Shouldn't have any problems shipping it.
