    Will this Magpul accessory work?

Hey, I'm wanting to know if these Magpul "magazine assist tool" will work with a standard steel AK-47 magazine? They say 7.62 NATO, and I know you can get AR uppers and mags chambered in 7.62 x 39mm, so I'm curious. I can't really seem to find any information and partly because I don't really know what they're called. Thanks!

EDIT: If they won't work, any ideas on what will? I've seen them once on a YouTube video but I can't remember anything about the video otherwise so I can't ask.

I would think the 5.56 version would work better stretched onto an AK mag.

Put it in a sink full of really hot water to get it soft, then stretch it on.

I personally wouldn't waste my money on em.

Thanks. I can find the 5.56 version locally, so maybe I will buy one and try it... Any ideas on if they'd work for a Mini-14 mag (factory or after market)??

Oh crap. I'm sorry. I completely forgot to post a link. Yes, those are what I'm talking/asking about. I don't even know what they're called other than "ranger plates"...

              Thanks!

                Thanks!
those would be called the original "mag-pul" The 5.56 should work just fine on the AK mags.

Not to resurrect a dead thread, but.... here we go...

Little update in case anyone was curious of using these. I bought 2 packs (6) of the 7.62mm NATO "magpuls" at the gun show a few weeks ago. They fit the Tapco polymer 10-round and 30-round rebuilds very well. But the steel 30-round rebuilds (from SolarTactical) don't fit at all, the 7.62mm version is too big, but when I come across a pack of the 5.56mm version, I will buy a pack of those and see if they'd work with the steel mags.

7.62 NATO and 7.62x39 are two VERY different rounds. 7.62 Nato is much bigger, for example.

                      Yup, particularly longer.

Yes. Correct. Let me clarify a bit for those interested...

                        The 7.62mm NATO "magpuls" are meant for .308 (aka 7.62mm x 51mm NATO), not 7.62mm x 39mm for an AK-47.

That said, the polymer Tapco 7.62mm x 39mm AK-47 magazines are "over-sized" and thus work perfectly with the 7.62mm NATO version of the "magpuls" as stated.

The steel AK-47 mags are much smaller than the Tapco polymer AK mags, so I'm thinking the 5.56mm version of the "magpuls" should work ok with the steel mags, and because they are rubber, they will stretch. The only thing that concerns me is the "rib" running down the back center of the steel mags.

What you want are literally called "MagPuls".
