I'm by no means an authority on the subject, but since no one else has answered........a HK USC is the civilian version of the UMP. You can buy conversion parts to make it "look" like a UMP. The parts you will need are; stock with axle pin, a stock block, a UMP lower, and of course, a UMP mag. Be advised though, you will probably also need to get the rifle in 922r compliance, though I'm not sure which parts are best to change out. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be happy to chime in. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong too, still learning meself.

      Donkey pretty much nailed it.
Due to import law the rifle has to come into the country in a "sporting configuration"
Afterwards, it can be converted to look like a UMP (mil version)

So is the conversion just for looks or does it actually effect the gun's performance?

Not really. The ergonomics and appearance will change, that's about it.

by comparing pics you can see how the rifle is used changes with the conversion. It requires the user to adopt a different stance and muscle memory when training.
