A question about the much maligned Mini-14

I have been browsing through the threads and I can't seem to find an answer for this question. I know that adding a folding stock to a Mini-14 is illegal here in the PRK, so how can all those guys at the gun shows keep selling Butler Creek folding stocks for Mini-14s and 10/22s? And what if you bought a 10/22 back in 1988 and put a folding stock on it then? Is it now a dreaded AW?

10/22 is rimfire, so is not subject to the AW laws. As for the Mini-14, they can sell the stock and it's up to you to keep the gun in a legal configuration.
