Anyone try XS Sights for AK (or other rifle)?

I took my new Saiga 7.63x39 out last weekend. I had an absolute blast with it. I like the gun, but I wasn't too impressed with the stock sights. Has anyone tried the XS Sights Big Dot sight on their AK pattern rifle? Have you used them on another rifle? What did you think?

I have the XS sights on my pistol and am extremely impressed with them. Just keep in mind they are not target sights. They are stress sights, easy to get on target and lined up just as fast. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying you wont be able to hit anything with these sights, they are made for speed and moving targets. If you like to run and gun or things of that nature then these sights are for you, if you are sitting and shooting get the peep sights or an optic. But in the end I uncanted my wasr's gas block and front sight just to get the XS sights, just a matter of saving up for them now.
But I being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softely, because you tread on my dreams.

I have a pair of xs sights on my glock and before that my m&p, but personally I would not put them on my rifle. My reasoning (based on what I've gathered) is because the whole reason for a rifle is to put accurate fire out to farther distances, and in my opinion (and that of others) the design if the dot sights does not facilitate this. However xs does make a front blade that you can look at that has gotten some good reviews.

As far as the tech sights I've heard that most do not like the fact once installed they make disassembly a pain. There are two other options mainly used now one by keens which is a bit steep in price around $279-$299 but gives you a rear sight and rail combo that goes over your dust cover. The other is done by Texas weapon systems called the dog leg kinda the same idea (but different)

I agree with most of your statement, but in my experiences accuracy isn't effected so negatively they should not be considered. I've used XS sights on an AK before and while the group sizing did opened up from 2-3 inches at 50 yards to 3-4 I would still very confident about putting accurate fire down range with these sights. However (comma) if you are bench shooting get a rear peep sight and a slimmer front sight post, it will be like a whole new rifle in terms of accuracy.

That's cool man we find different ways to drive the same car . There have been quite a few trainers with opinions on this as well which is where I can agree with a lot of their findings. I don't know if you have a getoffthex.com account but james yeager and his guys have some say on the issue as well warriortalk.com gabe Suarez. Personally I feel if im going for a quicker sight picture I could utilize a red dot optic (on the way once I sell my kidney next on Calguns ). As well to the op if your looking to keep a similar set up jim fuller of rifle dynamics can work your sight to make it easier for closer distance engagements.

On a note about xs sights though I will say to anyone wondering they do work very well on my pistol and I am very happy with them. They make a quality product, so if you do buy one no worries there.

The thing that I didn't like was the width of the front sight. But, I just looked at it again and I've realized that the front sight needs to be rotated a quarter turn. Right now my sight is a diamond, not a square, if that makes sense. This effectively makes the sight wider. I will give it turn and try the stock sights again. I'm also more used to a peep sight from my M&P15/22.

The XS sights look pretty cool. They don't seam to be ultra precise, but they are probably at least as good as stock sights with a faster sight acquisition.
