    using a sling

    OK I want to start shooting prone and offhand with a sling. So far most of my experience has been offhand(without a sling) and off of a bench.Any recommendations for a sling(for my AR) and books or videos that show how to use a sling in the above shooting positions?
    In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

        I just use the standard $15 sling from 10% or CWS. An old retired marine showed me how long to make the sling, and how to sling it, and how to mark it. Old guys like to talk. And he of course had to shoot the thing, too.

          Standard Sling and make a "LOOP SLING" Also called Cuff Sling (i think)....Stable in Off hand Prone and Kneeling...I don't believe USMC uses this anymore because of time an battle readiness...Newer devil dogs can clarify this??? Used mainly for long 300 yrd Off hand/ kneeling and 500 yrd Qual's..Hit the link and go to section 5.1 shows all the ways you can set up a regular standard issue sling to work for you..Its the USMC Marksmanship Field Manual

            The most field expedient method sometimes called a 'hasty' sling. They still teach that in basic. At least, my friend was discussing that with me after he got back from basic in 2000.
