    I bought a DPMS Oracle....

So I was at turners with buddies yesterday, and I just couldnt stop looking at the oracle, seeing DPMS on a California Gun rack made me act like a school girl at justin beiber concert... I normally do not impulse buy, but I did... and now I was wondering if anyone has one on the board, or knows of any good reviews? The gun seemed very stout, Ill be looking for a ton of magpul stuff so if anyone has any low down info on good places let me know!!

I have a DPMS Sportical upper (it's the same as an oracle just with no forward assist or dust cover) and it works great! VERY accurate. I have never had any problems with mine that had to do with the upper. Now I have had an issue with a DPMS Commercial Spec buffer tube. Replaced it and no problems since! The gun has yet to jam/misfeed on me. I think you're gonna like it.

If you can see the gun is in my avatar pic
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

the first guy is just spewing non-sense
DPMS makes SOLID stuff. the triggers in their LPKs often leave something to be desired... but that is about the ONLY complaint I have ever heard about DPMS
you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

I am running a DPMS Oracle on my lower. After over 1000 rounds it has been completely flawless. Not a single failure. I have run every kind of ammo through it, including reloads and steel cased Russian stuff. It is accurate too.

A friend of mine purchased an Oracle through Midway last month. He liked my setup so much, so he bought the same thing. Now another friend wants one too. For the price they just can't be beat.

I think you will enjoy your new toy

I think DPMS gets looked down upon a lot from people who buy really high end stuff. I think DPMS is like Chevy or Ford and the other stuff is more exotic BMW stuff.

If you are going to the range to shoot stuff, DPMS is great. If you are some super secret ninja guy, maybe you want something "better" whatever "better" means.

I think the AR is flexible enough that if something doesn't work like you want it to, it's easy to swap out.

You generally get what you pay for.

You bought a pretty cheap rifle.

That being said, you might find many years of good use out of it. There is really only one way to know for sure. Go shoot it and report back to us.

There is nothing wrong with DPMS. They make very nice entry level stuff. Some of us are AR snobs is all. Ignore 'em.

Here is a video of a guy who loves his DPMS Oracle, and has made an upgrade or two.

Notice that he has a firing range in his backyard. Must be nice. However, I don't think he likes his house, because he muzzels it constantly.

Cool! Lefty!! haha I too thought the B.A.D to be Bad for lefty...until my bro gave me one and I put it on...its actually better for lefty then righties IMO! lol, As Im swaping mags my right hand is right at the spot where after putting the mag in I can flick the BAD lever to close the bolt. So, one motion taken out for us lefties.

Also, the guy needs to know his range, thats about 15 yards. LOL usually 1 long stride foot step is 1 yard, he took about 19 small steps.....His 30 yard was 15 and his 45 yard was 20..

I know, I know...sorry, Im a bow hunter and that is how we find our range and its usually +/-1 feet off from our range finders using the "walk" technque....haha...

i know things are going to break, hell i bought the dpms and have already put 150 bucks into it without even receiving it yet... 9 days to go......

the stock and forearm are airsoft worthy at best, but dpms makes a good rifle, iam looking at the hard parts, barrel, upper, lower, everything else no matter how expensive you buy your going to have to put money in it at some point... as I figure, I bought a rifle that in my mind was affordable and I can build to what I want....

fact is I have owned several ar's and still do but call me crazy I think dpms being sold in ca again is friggin cool and one of the main reasons I bought this gun... ill have fun and post back!!
